The Old and the View

So the other day I went to visit my aunt Sam (Samara), to help her do some cleaning, she's moving to Tulsa and though I'm not happy about it, I still agreed to help her with her move. As we were cleaning she dug out some of her old fashion magazines. She had Vogues that dated all the way back to 1989, (I was only 6 Years old) a time when only models graced the covers. See this is where I get it from (the saving of the magazines & great fashion sense period). I couldn't describe the feeling I got when I saw them, it's just amazing how the fashion magazine has evolved.  I know some of you like viewing your mags on you iPads or tablets, but I'm so old fashioned, just to see them all laid out on my table, floor or bed, it just inspires me more. I need my mags to be visible at all times.
My aunt Sam has taught me everything there is to know about fashion, not just how to dress but most importantly to KNOW fashion; the history, the designers, models, muses, the key pieces that made fashion history, the photographers, editors, the quotes, etc. I am so honored that she passed her babies down to me. I will take such good care of them. (and to think, we're not even done cleaning, there’s more mags)  I can't wait to dig into these and post some great findings for my Fashion Flashback Posts, but until then, I'll give you a preview for now.

Year of the Wu

Yes, this year is off to an amazing start for Fashion Designer Jason Wu, receiving the YMA Future of Fashion Award. Debuting an amazing Pre-Fall 2012 Collection & his collection for Target is to hit stores next month. I’d have to agree, he is most defiantly the Future of Fashion. His work speaks for it’s self, he just keeps getting better & better.
His Pre-Fall 2012 Collection is to die for. My favorite pieces were the sweaters, and the coats, and I loved the placement of the leather collar over the orange, navy & nude sweater. The dresses were beautiful as well, and the little numbers he did in that amazing blue fabric were lust at first sight. I’m a big fan of emerald green and orange and I just loved how he uses these colors in his collection.
I could own this entire Pre-Fall 2012 collection and be set for all of fall. It just makes me so antsy to see what his Fall/Winter 2012 collection is going to look like, I can’t wait...but seeing how I have no choice, at least I won’t have to wait as long to not only see, but to to get my hands on his collection that he is doing for Target.  His Target 53 piece  collection is to go live February 5, 2012 with pieces ranging from $19 - $60.
Here are some of my favs from his Pre-Fall 2012 Collection & his collection thats to hit Target Stores next month right underneath. Enjoy!

Fashion Flashback "Tom Ford for Gucci Fall 2004"

Ending an era at Gucci, Tom Ford not only stunned the Fashion Industry, but made sure he left his mark. In Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2004 Read-to-Wear Collection, Ford gave us glamour, sex appeal, sophistication, and confidence.

He dug  into his archives from while he was at Gucci and revamped every great piece he created (how do you recreate a master piece into an even grater master piece, don’t know but he is the one to make it possible). Oh and the materials, the croc, the suede and the the fox; such luxury & glamour, I mean even the runway was covered in fur (now I don’t know if it was real or not, but it was awesome).

This is My absolute favorite Collection that Ford did while at Gucci. While he was at Gucci from 1994-2004, the man increased sales by 90%, from $230 million to almost $3 billion. He really went out with a bang.

IFB Project #28 "The Motivational Mood Board"

Ladies & Gents, I present to you my Motivational Mood Board. I’m taking part in the IFB Project #28. I’m not quite sure how to explain my board. I just took images of things & some people who get my fashion blood pumping.
As you can see I have a larger images of Tom Ford & Sean “Diddy” Combs, they really motivate me, including Lagerfeld. For as long as I can remember, I can honestly say that I never had a female role model that I just really admired except my mom and my aunt Samara (though there are many qualified successful women) I have always admired how men do business, I mean It’s all business, never personal. It’s like the only personal attachment that they have to business is the fact that they love what they do. The most successful men (keyword “Most” not “All”) in business are so discipline and they don’t complain and I love that. They just get the job done.
There are also some photos of strong & inspirational women whom inspire me as well in my Motivational Mood Board.
Ladies please don’t take any of this the wrong way, (I’m all for girl power, this world would be nothing without us) I know there are some strong willed women out there taking care of business right up there with the boys & above the boys; I’m just stating what gets “ME” motivated. By the way, I was raised by mostly men, so I guess that should explain this comment a bit.
I hope you can find some inspiration in my Motivational Mood Board as well. Enjoy!
